St KIZITO clinic has been a provider of quality healthcare and associated services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) in communities near and far for over 8 years. Our package of care includes but is not limited to:
– free HIV Testing Services,
– Provision of Antiretroviral therapy (ART) to persons confirmed HIV positive,
– Adherence counselling,
– Viral load testing and assessment of treatment progress,
– Prevention of Mother-To-Child transmission (PMTCT) services for HIV-positive pregnant women,
– Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV prevention.
– Screening and treatment for Opportunistic Infections commonly associated with Advanced HIV Disease
– Referral services to other components of healthcare provision.
The above-mentioned services are provided by the ART unit at St. Kizito Clinic and are supported by the Center for Integrated Health Programs (CIHP) and the United States CDC. This partnership has led to the initiation of over 1500 clients on life-saving medications, which in turn has improved the quality of life and promoted positive health outcomes. Furthermore, St. Kizito clinic runs several peer support groups for PLHIV across sub-populations aimed to provide psycho social, and economic support that tackle barriers to achieving positive health outcomes from being on ART. An example is the Operation Triple Zero (OTZ) club – an adolescent and youth-centered peer-peer support group. The impact and the results have been remarkable as they are consistently encouraged to take charge of their lives and health from a young age.
