Loving Gaze started the Immigrant project for migrants returning to Nigeria in 2019 to assist vulnerable and desolate Nigerians stranded in Italy who have no economic means to travel and be reunited with their families back home in Nigeria. Since 2019 till date, 150 migrants have benefited from this project.
Most of the immigrants migrated through the uncertain Libyan route till they ended up in various Asylum Camps in Italy. While some can find their feet in Europe, many others find it tough to adapt to their new environment and even more difficult getting documented and certified for Blue Collar Jobs. They become homesick and desire to return home.
The Returnee Project funds their flight back home. The migrants are also given a travel stipend at the airport and are sponsored for any economic activity they decide to embark upon in Nigeria to help them get back on their feet.
